I saw the first monarch of the season this morning while walking my dog Chica...........brightly colored, nectaring on gold lantana. It took off heading SSW.
Returning to my house, I saw an aerial combat in my butterfly garden between a monarch and a queen. The brightly colored monarch took off on a SSW heading.
And saw a third circling my water feature.
I was not close enough to determine the sex.
They probably rode in on the northerly front that blew in yesterday.
