Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/10/2012

Number: 5

Chilly this morning, 43 degrees, kids arrive for breakfast 7:17 AM. A lot of chittering and scolding for the woodpecker who was on one of the feeders :)
We refill feeders with nectar that is at room temperature on cold mornings. Black & Bue Salvia, Pink Lantana, Hardy Fuschias are favorites today. 'Welcome Beacons' are in position to capture the attention of hummers that may be traveling through--8 foot plastic tomato poles are wearing orange paint buckets (from Home Depot) and on the high hill, in the South habitat there is an orange child's tobaggon, on the ground (that can easily be seen from the sky) near the hummingbird feeders.
