Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 09/10/2012

Number: 12

decidedly fewer than last week, possibly due to the heavy storms this weekend and colder weather; still many more monarchs and others than last year ... all in great shape, too!

They were roosting overnight; seemed to be both in the dense trumpet vine and a honey locust tree. The last two nights (9/10 & 11) have dropped to the upper 40's, but the days are sunny and warming to the mid-70's. It's neat to see them get up and moving to the nearby butterfly bushes with the warmth of the sun!
