Sightings report image

Date: 09/10/2012

Number: 1

One Juvenile remains in the area. Feeding on nectar and perched on little dead branch of balsam fir.
I regret that I am just reporting in now for the season, but I do enter data into Ebird. This summer there were 2 adult males and one female. I believe the female successfully reared 2 clutches of two. I was lucky enough to observe males doing aerial displays several times during the season and also the male getting very close in front of the female and doing his back and forth hover dance. They have been a joy to have around my yard. My property abuts the White Mt National Forest, mostly low elev. spruce fir forest habitat. I provided 2 nectar feeders; one behind the house one in the front. It will be bitter sweet to see the last one depart. I will continue to keep one feeder up for any late ones that might pass through. Temps have dipped into the 40's a few nights already. The photo attached was taken 9/8/12 but I am 99% certain it is the same bird I observed today.
