At 9:45 am 1 juvenile or female hummingbird nectared at all the Lady-in-Red Salvias it could find in my front yard. It hovered briefly [tasted?] the butterfly bush & tropical milkweed blooms, then interacted with a male goldfinch that was feeding on Black-eyed Susan [Rudbeckia hirta]seeds nearby. It seemed to be just a curious swoopby that startled the goldfinch enough to make it flutter to regain balance but he stayed to eat more seeds.
