Date: 09/09/2012

Number: 1

Monarch Waystation #271 reports at least 10 5th instar monarch larvae & 2 pupae. Cold front came through last night, feels great after all the heat and humidity! Larvae are feeding on purple milkweed [Asclepias purpurascens], swamp milkweed [A. incarnata], tropical milkweed [A. curassavica]. common milkweed [A. syriaca] & a little on butterflyweed [A. tuberosa]. Butterflyweed seems to be the last species they will feed on when the others are not available.
