Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 09/11/2012

Number: 2

Here in Dallas, gearing up for Monarchs coming through. They hit peak migration here around the middle to end of October. Each year, the months of July and August are essentially dead for Monarch activity - you see a few here and there but its common to go weeks and even over a month without seeing one. Then toward the end of August, one or two will appear, hang around the garden, and then disappear again. I see them often laying eggs at this time. There are 2 in the garden now, and as others have posted, all of sudden I'll come home from work one day, and there'll be 5 in the garden, maybe more, and that always signals the front edge of the migration has arrived. It just builds from there. So only 2 now, but we're waiting and the flowers are ready!
