Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 09/11/2012

Number: 22

My wife peggy and I were at Big Meadows in the Shenandoah National park. Today between 17:00 and 17:45 we observed 22 Monarchs flying southwest. It was great seeing more Monarchs flying by our area. The food source for them was scant. Our area suffered a drought earlier in the summer. We had sufficient rainfall from storms and Hurricane Issac in late August, but not enough to have the flowering plants bounce back.
