Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/12/2012

Number: 12

A lot of hummingbird activity in the habitat this morning, the breakfast banquet began at 7:07 AM. One resident who continues to linger and 11 migrating guests. Our guests are visiting feeders--18 scattered throughout thr habitat, and enjoying Black & Blue Salvia, mass plantings of Pink Turtleheads, Pink Lantana,
Dicentra Scandens (yellow bleeding heart vine) Petunias, Pink Spider Flowers, Fuchsia Impatients. In the past years, we have not had this many visitors after September 9th. Other Master Gardeners tell me they also have a few hummingbird's that are continuing to 'linger' in their gardens this year. Orange buckets on 8 foot tomato poles--which I call 'Hummingbird Beacons' may account for our additional guests. We are thrilled that the Small Winged Wonders stopped by on their journey South.
