Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/12/2012

Number: 5

Haven't seen any male Ruby-Throated Hummers for 2 days. Now have 5 females consistently coming to my home feeder from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. They seem to almost be in playful flight with each other now that there is no male guarding the feeder. They are curious and will fly right up to me. In addition, they are perching more now than ever before - sometimes 3 will perch around the feeder or they fly off to a nearby pine tree to perch. I've enjoyed watching the hummers all summer, but this is by far the highlight of season. I'll surely miss them when they go.
