I am writing this a couple days after the sighting date of Sept 9/12. That Sunday our usual 4 female/juvenile Ruby-throats were at the feeders in the early morning - and then they were gone - not to be seen the rest of the day nor any day since. On Monday we experienced a full day of intense rain throughout the province, 2-4 inches depending on locality. As well, Tropical Storm Leslie was offshore heading north to Newfoundland. Somehow on Sunday those little hummers knew it was time to move on.
