Monarch Adult Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 08/27/2012

Number: 1

This monarch sighting was special! Turns out this lovely female represents an "aberration" or "aberrant form". At first I thought she was exhibiting extreme wear, but upon closer examination via several of my photographs, I discovered that she was in quite good shape and, for some reason, several shades lighter than any other female monarch I'd ever seen! Interestingly, she was also ovipositing on some tendrils of climbing milkweed. So, not a migrant, but a very intruguing late season sighting nonetheless!
