Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 09/10/2012

Number: 300

Noted quite a few monarchs coming into Cape May today. On the beach there were fatalities. I managed to remove two from the water but 3 others were washed away from shore. We were only on the beach for about an hour. All around town, as Louise noted, we saw an abundance of sulfurs. Some buckeyes and red admirals came in with the monarchs. Plenty of dragonflies too. Painted ladies are still around in large numbers.
Count is approximate-after the beach (1 hr saw 90 monarchs + others) we hiked through the point blue trail and later walked through the city as a stream were still coming in.
Most of the monarchs appeared in good shape.
