Monarch PEAK Migration
Sightings report image

Date: 09/13/2012

Number: 24

Today I counted two dozen monarchs during a 10 minute walk in a 5 acre field. Both of the past two days I counted one dozen monarchs during the same walk and thought that was the peak. However, with another day of strong south winds the monarchs seem to be stacking up. It was a joy to walk through the field with so many monarchs topping the red clovers. They'd take wing as I approached, get caught by the and briefly sail backwards. Then fly up and away and off toward a distant clover.
