For most of August and now the middle of September we have enjoyed watching a great number of Ruby-throated hummers at our four feeders. Male and female adults and juveniles are not fighting as much as they usually do and give in to others feeding close by.

We had an amazing sighting of a Rufus hummingbird at our feeders August 25th and 26th. He stayed just those two days but his rare sighting caused quite a stir in the ornithology community here. I was told a picture would be in February's 2013 Kentucky Ornithological Society issue.
