I was sitting on my patio reading when I saw a movement above me.
It was a female and a rather little hummer. Could not tell if male or female as the feathers were not the same as the older one. They arrived after 5pm and the "mama" went to my hanging plant and the baby kind of drop onto my patio railing and sat for a short time. I was observing and could not tell about the sex of it. I spoke softly to both of them. The mama moved to another part of the plant the the baby fly up to it and started feeding. It seemed like the wings were a little shorter and the neck area was not smooth like the older ones. So, I am assuming it was learning. Then the mama flew off around the building and the baby went to another flower on the plant then all of a sudden looked around and then it also rather lifted off, but not very high and went the opposite way the mama went. I watched until I lost sight of it. I hope it meet up with her on the opposite side of the building somewhere. The hummers usually leave and go around or over my building and return but I sat out there for quite a while and they never came back. I hope all is well with them. I haven't noticed any more since Tuesday. I will keep my feeders out and I still have flowers blooming out there. This is the time they start moving south. Maybe they were just flying by on their trip.
I had been seeing some every day before Tuesday, but they were an adult male and a juvenile male. Don't know what to think right now but hoep all is well with them. Will keep watching.
