Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/12/2012

Number: 16

Suddenly, we have 4-5 hummingbirds at each feeder at a time! We have been having a problem with large yellow-orange European Wasps this year for the first time. One stung me on the head when I was trying to fill the bowl I put out for them to distract them from the hummingbird feeders (I have bright red hair). These are very venomous wasps. The sting pain was intense and lasted through the night. I had to go to the doctor the next day as my face and throat swelled up. Please warn everyone to be wary of these insects that are almost as big as the hummers! They are attracted to bright colors and shiny objects. Wear plain clothes and a hat if you are allergic to stings when out in the yard.
