Monarch Fall Roost
Sightings report image

Date: 09/14/2012

Number: 60

We had a small roost of 50-60 monarchs last evening (9/14/12). We are happy to report even a small roost since we had none last year. It was chilly last night with temperatures in the upper 40's. This morning the butterflies were clustered together high in the branch of a maple tree. They should have good weather for flying today with bright sunshine and light northeast winds. My photo from this morning is not very colorful since their wings were still closed. I took the photo before the sun was shining on the monarchs. Had to go to work early!
