Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 09/13/2012

Number: 100

It is an incredible year for butterflies in Québec. It started with a red admiral invasion in May, they were thousands and all the stinging nettles were striped completely of their leafs, leaving the larvae no place to hide.

Then a huge abundance painted lady appeared for 10 days in late august.
These guys kinda disappeared with the monarchs, around at that time, when the cold front came.

After that there was more warm weather and more monarchs( hundreds in each of the 4 clover field I visited), then a cold front took those away.

Now (9/13) there is more warm weather and more monarchs in my yard(didn't check the fields, maybe tomorrow).
