Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 09/18/2012

Number: 1

One adult struggling to nectar at althea bush in gusty winds. It approaches with difficulty (often getting blown back) finally lands on a bloom and feeds. When it wants to move to the next bloom it is blown back and has to repeat the process. Winds gusting over 30 mph and sustained winds 20mph. I feel for it. It's amazing that it is out trying to feed in this wind. It is cloudy and we are under a threat of severe thunderstorms. So far we have just had showers intermittantly. Storms getting closer.
