Saw my first "Northern" Monarchs ! We have them all year, but the migrating ones are bigger and more tattered. To compare the 2 is quite easy as these bigger bolder ones are only seen during migration. They nectured on the flowers in the yard, one laid eggs (about 4 dozen) and then they were off. Soon (in about 3 weeks) there will be great numbers of them stopping off and spending the night tucked up under the palm fronds or the arbor. Let's hope we have enough milkweed this year. I already have more cats than I can feed !
