I enjoyed a beach day on Monument Beach in Bourne, Mass on Sunday and was amazed at how many Monarchs were heading south along the water. Monument Beach is on Buzzards Bay and near the southern entrance to the Cape Cod Canal. In a period of 3 hours, I was able to see 35 Monarchs. I especially enjoyed those that landed nearby on the sand to rest. I could get very close to them before they would take flight again. It was a great morning.
