Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 09/19/2012

Number: 35

We were walking along the beach on Long Beach Island, barrier Island of coast of NJ...
Monarchs were flying in from the ocean, exhausted...against a westerly wind...just making it to the dunes and safety..
on 9/15/12 we saw literally 100's in bushes at the end of Great Bay Boulevard, Little Egg Harbor...Seems to be a gathering place, as many people there come to see them each year..We were told they have not reached "full occupancy there yet" It was reported that the bushes and trees are literally filled, covered at full occupancy....
This is west of Long Beach Island across Barnegat Bay...These bushes are at the southern end of Great Bay boulevard, overlooking the bay...I will try to get a picture
next week...
