Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 09/20/2012

Number: 1

I observed an adult monarch flit up and land on flowers on my porch. I have been seeing one or two for weeks now, but since I am not a regular observer, did not realize I needed to report these sightings. They also hover around the hummingbird feeders; I wonder if they can ever compete with the birds and the bees for that nectar. I actually tried to feed a "painted lady" a while back, but the ants got into the grape jelly mixture in the saucer.
