Was sitting outside doing some writing and heard that familiar whirring. I saw a lone female ruby-throat (or possibly a juvenile?) at the feeder. It might be the same one that's been around this last week. (I finally looked up the plumage and discovered it could either be a female or a juvenile, but it's not a male.) Still surprised that there's some hummers still hanging around - I almost want to shoo them south so they can be nice and warm! Saw this hummer at about 2:30PM, September 21, 2012.
