Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 09/25/2012

Number: 1

The sky and trees were filled with orange wings today!!! Huge numbers of monarchs were feeding on English Ivy flowers again. In one view hundreds could be seen flitting around in the trees flowers. An interesting observation - in the last 3 days very few of the monarchs are feeding in the gardens that are filled with flowers around Cape May Point. They continue to feed on the ivy flowers. Last year the monarchs would roost on the ivy flowers too, this year they are moving at dusk to cedar or deciduous trees to roost. It was incredible today!!
