I'm sad to say that I have seen very few monarchs compared to other summers. Perhaps it was the drought, perhaps also the spraying for west Nile mosquito virus in the area. I'm an informal observer, and I only see one monarch on the average per week here during this fall. Usually I see 50 to 100 in a week.
