I was very surprised this past Monday when I was at National Zoo and I couldn't find a single monarch anywhere! I went up and down the entire zoo, carefully inspecting every butterfly bush I came across, as well as every patch of blooming flowers and...ZILCH. I was so convinced I'd have a banner day with these beautiful orange-and-black butterflies, as we've already had several cold fronts...I seriously doubt they're done migrating through here, it's too early for that. I will be patient and continue checking for them in their favorite haunts these next 5-6 weeks.
