Hummingbird Sighting
Sightings report image

Date: 09/29/2012

Number: 2

This will be the 5th day that this little lady has been around. She perches in our purple leaf sand cherry, right next to the feeder. I believe she might be spending her nights there, too. Her poor top beak (maxilla) is bent pretty bad, but she seems to be doing okay for herself. I sit and watch her catch insects out of the air! She's also very feisty....one of the few hummers that won't budge for the competing bees, but snaps her beak at them to chase them off! Will miss her when she leaves. We also had one other hummer visit this morning, but it seemed to only visit the flowers and then fly off.
