Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 09/30/2012

Number: 1

Once again no Monarchs between Maidstone and Point Pelee. One solitary Monarch looking for a roost at the extreme tip. On every visit I ask the park guide for reports of sightings and am told that she was not on the desk. Other visitors relate that they are not seeing many if any. The weather has been perfect for migration (19C, moderate winds, cool nights (no frost)) for the past week. Most of the milkweed in Essex County has set seed so maybe our migration, such as it was, is done. Will see what October brings, as I had roosts in mid and late October last year in my yard.
