Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 09/27/2012

Number: 52

Walked along the perimeter of the Sachuest National Wildlife refuge. I counted 52 monarchs over the course of about two hours. Most of them were flying in various directions over the interior areas of the refuge. There was a lot of goldenrod, and many of them were alighting and feeding on the goldenrod. About three or four of the butterflies headed out in a southwesterly direction over the water towards the RI mainland.
