Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 09/30/2012

Number: 2

While getting donuts Sunday, I was just about to pull open the door to the donut shop when I noticed a monarch-shaped shadow gliding 'south' along the sidewalk. I looked up immediately and saw one flying by, at about the same height as the roof of the building. This particular butterfly reminded me of stained glass, the way the sunlight was streaming through its wings! Then, while we were enjoying our donuts at one of the cafe tables out front, we saw another monarch flying up a hill and right toward us, at a lower altitude this time. It checked out the brightly-colored donut box and then continued on its southerly journey. (Should mention we were seated adjacent to a 'power cut', which are proven to be excellent wildlife corridors.)
