I am still observing Monarchs, Ladies, Admirals, skippers, whites, etc., including Oct. 1, 2, 3. Monarch colors are bright, deep orange -- deeper in Oct. than in the summer. The Monarchs are displaying breeding behaviors, although didn't see mating this week. Monarchs are nectaring on Buddleja, Aster, Sedum, Heptacotium, Eupatorium, Chrysanthemum, etc. I didn't take a close look for M. caterpillars this week, although noted a couple last week. Daytime weather is in the 60s, sunny, no light frost to date.
