Hummingbird Sighting (Adult Male)

Date: 10/07/2012

Number: 2

We still have two hummers, a male and a female coming to our feeders. One, we call low wing, appears to have an injured or birth defective wing. It flies well, which makes me think it is a birth defect, and comes to the feeders every day, several times a day, but is still here even after the big cold snap which dipped to near freezing two nights in a row. I have no idea why the other hummer is staying. We do not believe either are from our original summer group, because of the wing on the female. Perhaps the male is a mate? Do they travel in family groups or with a mate?
