A sad sight at my hummingbird feeder Wednesday morning, young male all bloodied and broken. His bottom beak was torn in half and dangling at 90 degrees. He had some trouble feeding from the ports, but managed. I didn't think he would make it very long in his condition, but he is still here today, Friday morning, and looking stronger. His feathers are no longer ruffled, but his lower beak looks terrible. I tried to get a picture, but he shies away from any movement at the window. I'll just let him be and gain his strength.
