Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 10/12/2012

Number: 6

Has anyone West of the Smoky Mountains in TN seen significant numbers. I was sure the last cold snap and rain would have produced a following wave of monarchs that were delayed by the storms, but I've only tagged three in 10 hours of searching (those were all yesterday), and I'm batting about .500 (successfully catching about half of the ones I see) at a spot that had plenty last year. Do the monarchs coming down East of the Appalachians tend to arrive earlier than those migrating West of the Appalachians? Last year they seemed to peak in mid-October, but I know the norm is late September/early October. Reading the report from central NC is making me jealous (especially since I'm from there!) : ) So, anyone tagging north of TN and West of the Appalachians, or in East TN, please let me know if you're seeing decent numbers.
