Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 10/10/2012

Number: 1

Monarchs were migrating through central Maryland in good numbers on Wed. Oct 10th. They were seen flying about 30' up over highways and back roads. I didn't see any come down to nectar; the wind they were riding on was just too good. We still have not had a frost, but it the temperature bottomed out at 34 degrees F last night. Nectar sources are still plentiful-- goldenrods and asters in fields, annuals in yards.
