After a week of rain and subnormal temperatures during two nights in the 30's; we finally had a sunny day in the low 60's with a breezy SW wind. I spotted 23 monarchs who looked very healthy given the weather earlier in the week. Several times during the colder days I found some monarchs stranded on the road, I pulled over, picked them up, held them in my hand while they shivered to raise their body temperatures. I placed them in a pine tree to keep them safe for the night.
