Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 10/19/2012

Number: 300

We have roughly ten acres of sunflowers that have grown to as high as six feet. I had mowed a few paths in the fields, so I am able to walk out and around the sunflowers. Yesterday there were hundreds of butterflies and finally I realized that they appeared to be Monarchs. I don't know much about the determination of adult or peak migration, however, I do know what a Monarch looks like. It was wonderful. They would float around my head and weren't bothered by the dogs because the sunflowers are so tall. Several times I stopped and watched one gather necter. I didn't have my camera with me!
