Tulips PLANTED

Date: 10/21/2012

Number: 1

We planted our second tulip test garden for Journey North since moving to Pella, Iowa! Our site for this year’s garden is where we had our sunflower garden over the summer. We planted four rows of tulips in front of the classroom window, and two rows of tulips in front of the guest room window. We made sure they were far enough away from the house so that is not a contributor to their blooming early this spring. We planted the Red Emperor tulip bulbs at a depth of 7 inches and 4 inches apart. We used our rulers so we could be precise! We can’t wait to see these beauties emerge in the spring. It will be exciting to compare the data with last year’s garden. We left the 50 tulip bulbs from last year’s garden in the same spot, so it will be fun to see those bloom as well in the spring!
