I saw 6-8 adult monarchs - both female and males. They were hovering on and around a large butterfly bush in my mother's backyard in Tryon, NC. At least 3 had torn wings. Tryon is in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Isn't it late in the year for them to still be in NC?
