I was driving maybe 300 yards or so east on fern st. from the mountain road intersection yesterday October 21 and I saw what I believe is a bald eagle (white head, white tail, black body) flying above the cemetery / public park that was just south east from us. Beautiful site, soaring , wings wide, above the trees against a pure blue autumn sky. My son saw it also and thought it was a bald eagle. This is in West Hartford, CT which I though was unusual as we hear about bald eagles returning to the mouth of the ct river but never this far north. I hope it is a bald eagle. I am no expert but I am not aware of other birds that look like this.
