Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 10/22/2012

Number: 2

I hadn't seen any hummers for about three weeks, but always keep my feeders up 'just in case'. We've been so mild here that I still have lots of blooming flowers and on Monday afternoon, I spotted a female ruby throat at the feeder near the flowers. She drank for quite a while then her 'friend' came by - and off they went.

I did change all the feeders now so if they do show up again, the food will be fresh.

Two years ago, I had a female as late as November 17th - she was officially tagged and recorded by a local bird tagger and was a bit underweight. Because of that bird, I keep my feeders up as long as I can.
