Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 10/24/2012

Number: 62

This morning surprised me-while eating breakfast with a friend on the beach front I witnessed monarchs floating down the dunes!! At first I thought, well, maybe a few today, but one of the monarch monitoring team members reported 36 in 3 minutes flying by, our intern counted 62 in 20 minutes flying by and at the end of the day the census was 136.5 per hour!! It was a warm day with variable winds; north, west, north east.... So, they continue to visit Cape May on their way to Mexico - makes us smile here ((-:
