I was just about to cross the street and head into National Zoo when I saw a magnificent bald eagle soaring across Connecticut Avenue, sky-high and resplendent in its crisp brown-and-white plumage. I was thrilled-to-pieces! This is the first eagle I've ever sighted in the District of Columbia, and it makes for quite an addition to my Zoo bird list:-)
