Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 10/25/2012

Number: 1

On the morning of Oct. 25th, 2012, I was surprised to discover a female Monarch on a potted fall mum on my deck. I have never seen Monarchs this late in Ontario before. It was cloudy & cool. When the sun came out I moved the pot so that the sun was shining directly on her. Slowly, she began to move around the plant taking nectar. At this point she even let me very gently pet her wing. After about 10 minutes in the sunshine, she took flight and landed on an Echinasia plant in my garden, then onto another fall mum and then back to the original potted mum. She was in my garden for at least 30 minutes. I took many, many photographs, but do not have them on my computer yet, so I am unable to send a picture. May I send it later?
