Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 10/09/2012

Number: 1000

On Tuesday 10/9 at about 10:00 am we were driving up the Horseshoe Meadows Road in the Inyo NF when we saw many 100's of Monarchs feeding on Rubber Rabbitbrush along the side the road. it was at about the 6000-7000' level. It was cool (55-60) and cloudy with a Cold Front coming in. We did our hike and returned to the area about 4-5 hours later, and none were to be seen. By that time it was very windy and spitting snow.
