Monarch Adult Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 10/27/2012

Number: 3

My wife and I took a 40-minute walk around noon to enjoy the cooler temperatures
On the walk we saw a lone migrant heading Southwest at tree top level¦..riding the wind and moving quickly.
We also saw a Monarch casually nectaring in the Prairie Verbena fields that are abundant in the lots around us.

We had a few migrants pass thru during the afternoon at the house
One spent about 10-15 minutes on the ground that was still moist from the morning watering
It then moved on to our Lantana and Prairie Verbena
It only flew short distances before landing to either sun or nectar on some vegetation
It finally disappeared after about an hour.

Surprisingly we also had a female spend about 45 minutes with us and she left some fresh eggs
Also seeing some fresh Queen eggs and larvae from a female that visited yesterday
Don't recall ever seeing eggs this late in the year¦.but then¦.this has been an unusual year
