This is my last update for 2012. From October 16 to October 31 I had only one adult monarch flying south on the 17th. For August to the end of October I observed 39 monarchs for 2012. Last year, 2011, I observed 947 monarchs for the same time frame. I believe the reasons for this are the drought in NE Michigan this year and more southerly winds. Also, the monarchs returned very early this year.
