Our Horticulture class and Horticulture Club combined to plant the tulips at the proper depth in an area of full sun at the back of Quincy High School. We sifted the soil, screened the stones of Quincy granite and loosened the soil before planting. We covered the plantings with wire mesh to prevent squirrel predation. As the soil has subsided, we plan to bring the planting depth up to the 8" with a loose addition of topsoil. The tulips were planted in rows reminiscent of the stars on the American Flag.
